Twitch Affiliate Requirements and How to Reach Them

See your progress in the Creator Dashboard and grow your viewer average.

By · Updated October 19, 2026 · 8 min read

You need 25 followers on Twitch to become an Affiliate, along with 4 hours streamed, 4 unique broadcast days and an average of 3 concurrent viewers, all inside a rolling 30-day window. Those are Twitch’s 2026 Affiliate requirements as reported by streaming guides, after Twitch lowered the bar in mid-2026.

Followers and hours come easily. The 3-viewer average is the hard part. When we researched these figures, Twitch’s own help page could not be read, so confirm every number in the Path to Affiliate tracker in your Creator Dashboard.

Twitch Affiliate Requirements in 2026

Twitch’s 2026 Affiliate requirements, as reported by streaming guides, are four numbers you must hit inside a rolling 30-day window.

Requirement2026 bar (as reported)Previous bar (as reported)What it means in practice
Followers2550Easy to reach; friends and early viewers can cover it
Time streamed4 hours500 minutesFour short streams already cover the hours
Unique broadcast days47Go live on four different days in the window
Average concurrent viewers33The hard part: 3 people watching at the same time, on average

The viewer bar is the only one that did not drop in mid-2026. You can stream 4 hours in total across 4 days in a single week.

Twitch keeps the official terms on its Joining the Affiliate Program help page. Confirm the numbers in the Path to Affiliate tracker in your Creator Dashboard.

How to Track Twitch Affiliate Requirements in Your Dashboard

Check the Path to Affiliate tracker in the Twitch Creator Dashboard after every stream so you know which number is holding you back.

  1. Log in to your Creator Dashboard with the account you stream from.
  2. Compare each count to the bar. If followers, hours and days are full, your work is all on the viewer average.
  3. Accept the invite and finish onboarding. Follow the steps on the Affiliate help page.

If its numbers differ from the table above, follow the tracker.

How to Raise Your Average Viewers

You raise your average viewers by giving people a reason and a time to come back, then bringing in new viewers from outside Twitch.

  • Keep a fixed schedule. Pick days and start times, post them on your channel, and keep them every week.
  • Choose a category you can be seen in. Look at the category directory before you go live. If your stream would sit far down the list, pick a smaller game or a niche topic. Our niche guide helps you choose one.
  • Post clips outside Twitch. Cut short vertical clips of your best moments and post them on TikTok and YouTube Shorts with your schedule in the bio. Our TikTok follower guide covers hooks that work for clips.
  • Raid other streamers. When you end a stream, send your viewers to someone in your category and get to know those streamers as a viewer in their community.
  • Match stream length to your crowd. If your viewers leave after two hours, a four-hour stream drags your average down. End while people are still watching.
  • Collaborate. Stream with someone at a similar size so both audiences see both channels.

Our guide to becoming a streamer covers setup and schedules in more depth.

Why Fake Viewers Cost You More Than They Give

Never use view bots, follow-for-follow services or bought followers to hit the bar. These break Twitch’s rules and can end your account’s monetization. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) rule effective October 21, 2024 also bans selling or buying fake social media indicators like followers or views.

What Affiliate Unlocks on Twitch

Twitch Affiliate turns on subscriptions and Bits.

Other Affiliate features, such as ads, emote slots, the revenue split and payout minimums, vary. We do not list numbers for them here because they were not available to confirm when we researched this. Twitch lists the current terms in your Creator Dashboard and on its Affiliate help page.

Affiliate does not guarantee income. It turns on subscriptions and Bits, and viewers still have to choose to subscribe or cheer.

Twitch Affiliate vs Partner

Twitch Partner is the higher tier above Affiliate, and you reach it by invite or application with its own requirements. Twitch publishes those requirements and benefits itself, and we do not state numbers for them because they were not confirmed.

How Much Twitch Affiliates Make

No one can promise what a Twitch Affiliate earns, and we do not publish an average figure because none can be traced to a reliable source. Income depends on four levers:

  • Subscribers. How many viewers subscribe.
  • Bits. How often viewers cheer during streams.
  • Ads. Any ad income Twitch pays under its current Affiliate terms.
  • Sponsors. Brands that pay for mentions or segments.

There is no fixed viewer count for making $1,000 a month; income depends on these four levers.

Sponsors usually want a steady average audience and a clear niche, and there is no fixed number for that either. When you approach a brand, a media kit with your average viewers and audience details helps you pitch. Our guides to influencer rates and how many followers brands look for help you price a deal. The FTC’s disclosure guide for influencers covers paid mentions.

Taxes on Twitch Income

In the United States (US), Twitch income is self-employment income, and self-employment tax applies once net earnings reach $400.

  • Rate. Self-employment tax is 15.3%: 12.4% for Social Security and 2.9% for Medicare, on net self-employment earnings.
  • Timing. You pay estimated taxes quarterly using Form 1040-ES.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) self-employment tax page has the official rules. The Modern Wallet also has a Twitch taxes guide. This is general information, so talk to a tax professional about your own return.

Who Should Not Chase Affiliate Yet

Affiliate is a poor first goal if you cannot keep a fixed weekly schedule. Spend a few weeks proving you can stream on set days, then watch the tracker.

It is also the wrong goal if you prefer edited videos to live streams. The YouTube monetization checker shows how close a channel is. If you are unsure which path fits, start from the influencer roadmap.

Our advice would change if Twitch raised the Affiliate bar again or changed the 3-viewer average, since that number decides how long the path takes. We will update the table when Twitch’s own page confirms new figures.

Open your Creator Dashboard today, write down your four Path to Affiliate numbers, and set a fixed three-day schedule to start meeting the Twitch affiliate requirements.

Frequently asked questions

How many followers do I need on Twitch to become an affiliate?

You need 25 followers, according to Twitch’s 2026 requirements as reported by streaming guides. You also need 4 hours streamed, 4 unique broadcast days and an average of 3 concurrent viewers in a rolling 30-day window. The previous bar was reported as 50 followers. Confirm the current numbers in the Path to Affiliate tracker in your Creator Dashboard.

How hard is it to hit affiliate on Twitch?

The follower, hour and broadcast-day bars are easy to reach, and the 3-viewer average is the hard part. An average of 3 people watching at the same time takes regular viewers. A fixed schedule, clips posted outside Twitch and raids with other streamers can help you work on that average.

Can you lose being affiliate on Twitch?

Yes. Twitch can remove Affiliate status for breaking its rules, including fake engagement like view bots or bought followers. Twitch’s rules and the Affiliate help page set the terms, so read them before you accept the invite.

How much do affiliates get paid on Twitch?

No fixed amount exists, and no earnings figure can be promised. Affiliate income depends on how many viewers subscribe, how many Bits they cheer, any ad income and any sponsor deals. Twitch lists the revenue terms and payout details for Affiliates in the Creator Dashboard and on its help page.

How many viewers do you need to make $1000 a month on Twitch?

There is no fixed viewer count for $1,000 a month. Income depends on subscribers, Bits, ads and sponsors. Grow your average viewers in one clear niche, then add sponsor deals, which usually need a steady audience.

Do I need an LLC as a streamer?

This page cannot tell you whether you need a limited liability company (LLC) as a streamer. Whether one makes sense depends on your income, state and situation. Ask a tax professional or a lawyer before you form one, since we cannot give legal advice.
